This poor guy.
He's been a bit congested (that we've kept from blowing up into a full blown chest cough with Breathe) this past week and it has just migrated to his eyes. It's not all sticky and goopy YET, and I'm trying to keep it that way!
So Kelly is soaking his eyes with the powerful medicine of
melaluca (tea tree),
A wealth of in vitro data now supports the long-held beliefs that tea tree oil has antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory properties.
Studies have shown that Lavandula oil (lavender) is potent and demonstrates anti-fungal activity on a wide spectrum. Studies also suggest that lavender has an acceleratory effect on wound healing and it's calming effects are widely known.
Now Frankincense...that bad boy! Frankincense is known as the "king of oils" because of it's complex chemical structure. This complexity in turn provides diverse and extraordinary health benefits. Frankincense oil is harvested by cutting or "scoring" the Boswellia tree which grows in one of the world's harshest climates. The tree then "bleeds" a resin to heal itself. This powerful plant medicine is then collected and delicately distilled to extract the essential oils. All this incredible healing power concentrated into one drop of oil!
The research on Frankincense is crazy exciting (if you go for that sort of thing, which I do). It runs the full spectrum-- from healthy nails and skin, to mood management to suppressing cancer cell viability. So a little cold virus is no match for Franky-boy! See ya later sucker!
One more cool point about essential oils: many of them, with their germ fighting chemical materials, can actually
cross a cell membrane to work inside our body's cells and fight the bad guys!
You have probably heard that viruses are untouchable by antibiotics (antibiotics are used to target bacteria) because viruses are structurally different from bacteria. Viruses live and replicate inside of a human cell, they cannot live outside of a human cell. Viruses insert their genetic material into a human cell’s DNA in order to reproduce. Antibiotics cannot kill viruses because bacteria and viruses have different mechanisms and machinery to survive and replicate.
So to simplify all of that...essential oils directly influence the body by entering the bloodstream either through your skin, through the air or taken internally (you drink a drop...read about that here). The unique structural features of essential oils allow them to be active both on the surface of cells and within cells.
Germs are all around us, so arm yourself with some tools people!
Having these incredible plant medicines right at home, at my fingertips, allows me to take charge of our family's health care and stop those infections in their tracks before they become a problem.
Every little invasion makes our immune systems stronger, so keep it short and fight back with these essential oils!
They are safer, cheaper and, most times, more effective than traditional over-the-counter medications and there are no residual side effects-- our gut flora remains intact, our skin remains clear and our bellies calm.
Oh! And our wallets are still full! Kelly's eye soak probably cost me under $2.00. Compare that to a trip to the doctor! Essential oils cost pennies per drop and really pack a PUNCH!
(Please note: I am not against conventional medicine! It has literally saved my child's life and I will be forever grateful and respectful. But we are very capable of managing our every day health at home with a little knowledge of our bodies and some natural tools!)
So Kelly will be fine. He will soak with this amazing, great smelling, soothing concoction and he will heal.
How are you gonna heal next time? Wanna talk about it?
